Councilman Joe Buscaino addresses the crowd at the Senior Lead Officer Summit, Harbor Area 2012.

Tonight’s Senior Lead Officer Summit at LAPD Harbor Division headquarters introduced the new Cyber Block Captain program as a way to bring Neighborhood Watch to more people. This program will utilize email, Facebook groups and/or smart phone apps to connect each area’s Senior Lead Officer with Block Captains who will in turn contact neighbors on their list.

If you are a coastal San Pedro resident and are interested in being a Cyber Block Captain or learning more about the program please contact Senior Lead Officer Eve Wight at or 310-869-2168.

L.A. City Council District 15 has created several Facebook groups to get things started: Coastal South San Pedro Neighborhood Watch, Central San Pedro Neighborhood Watch, and Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Watch. Anyone with a Facebook account is welcome to join these groups to warn neighbors about crime that has happened or ask about a suspicious car or person.

LAPD Sr. Lead Officer Brian Cook reminds neighbors of the following numbers:

  • 911 Emergency call from a landline
  • 213-928-8228 Emergency call from a cell phone in the Harbor Area *Program this into your cell phone!
