Olguin Campus open house schedule and news

Tonight is the Open House and Ribbon-Cutting celebration of the San Pedro High School John M. & Muriel Olguin Campus. Festivities start at 4:30p.m. Enter the campus off of 32nd Street and Gaffey. There will be no pedestrian or car access from any other point due to an agreement with the community.

Open House Schedule

  • 4:00—5:00pm Volleyball in Gym
  • 4:30—6:00pm Softball Practice at Field
  • 5:00-6:00pm Classroom Tours (E201 Library, E104 Multipurpose Room, E110)
  • 5:30pm Band at Amphitheater
  • 6:00-7:00pm Ribbon Cutting at Amphitheater
  • 7:00—8:00pm Basketball in Gym; Band in Music Room; Pirate Plunge at Pool

Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel to take a Pirate Plunge in the new pool. Don’t expect to get a workout yet as the plunge is only ceremonial tonight.

Speaking of the pool, there is an opening for a lifeguard at the Olguin Campus Pool. The ideal candidate will be a Lifeguard who has current certification in C.P.R. for Professional Rescuer, First Aid Certificate and Lifeguard Training. LAUSD is implementing the Early-Start Calendar this year so classes will begin on August 14th, three weeks earlier than usual. Under the schedule change, the first day of instruction for students on a traditional, two-semester calendar next year will begin August 14, 2012, and the last day of instruction will be June 4, 2013.
